18 carat gold leaf can be added to text or images.
The addition of gold leaf on monuments dates back thousands of years, and is applied both because of its beauty and the enduring qualities of gold. With gold leaf, we will apply 18 carat gold to the text or sandblasted image of your choosing, to make a headstone that is truly unique and timeless.
“A picture is worth a thousand words”
Ceramic photos for headstones and memorials are created by effectively printing a photographic image into a ceramic tile. To do this, each pixel of the photograph is melted into either a coating on the tile, or into the tile itself. This forms a color or black & white image in the ceramic piece, which we then seamlessly embed into a granite memorial. Initially, we use the same process as laser-etching, with our photographers helping customers select and perfect their photos, prior to printing the ceramic tile. This technique is used where customers desire a full color or photo-paper style image on their memorial. Typically, it is used to create the photographic image, while sandblasting or laser-etching is used to create text or other parts of the memorial.
With laser engraving, the designs for your custom headstone and memorial are virtually unlimited.
Laser engraving uses a laser to cut into the rock, removing the polished surface and exposing the lighter unpolished surface underneath. Laser etching can only be done only on black granite, which provides a high contrast, photographic image in the stone. For our customers that specifically desire laser etching of pictures, we start this process by looking at the picture or pictures being considered, and advise our clients on the most suitable photos for this process. Following this, we have our skilled photo technicians enhance the image and remove any possible defects prior to applying the image to your memorial. Like sandblasting, laser etching can be used either exclusively for an entire memorial, placing all of the images, text, and pictures on the black granite piece, or in combination with other methods.
